5 Reasons To Use Stainless Steel Straws

1. Be Environmentally Friendly!

In the US, approximately 500 MILLION plastic straws are disposed of EVERY DAY!  The type of plastic these straws are composed of cannot be recycled, so as a result they end up in landfills and littered through the streets.  On top of this, plastic degrades at an extremely slow pace.  The longer it takes to degrade, the more likely the trash will end up in an ocean, harming our wild life.

2. Keep Your Smile Bright

By using a straw, you can protect your smile from drinks that have a likelihood to stain your teeth.  Staining comes from long term exposure to dark-colored foods and drinks.

In restaurants, you typically drink pop, tea and other beverages from a straw, but are less likely to do so at home.  By using a Stainless Steel Straw you can easily save your teeth from direct contact with the liquid, and have a quick clean up by putting your cup and straw in the wash.

3. Happy Teeth, Happy You

Much like the stain protection factor, sipping through a straw means a decreased chance of sugary and acidic substances sticking to your teeth and causing decay.  As little as 4 acidic intakes throughout the day can increase your risk of acid erosion.  Some examples are water with lemon, coffee, wine, fruit juices and soda (which both contain harmful sugars in addition).  Save yourself some pain at the dentist and protect your teeth ahead of time!

4. Healthy Alternative

Unlike plastic straws, which contain BPA, a proven harmful chemical, Stainless Steel Straws are made from the same food grade material as your other silverware. This means you can easily put them in the dishwasher to sanitize and use again!

You may think, sure but I could just throw my disposable straws in the wash to use again too.  However, your plastic straws are disposable for a reason!  The heat from the dishwasher can change the chemical make-up of the plastic and release toxins, such as Phthalates and BPA that you will then ingest if you use it again.

5. Last A Lifetime

Compared to disposable straws or other non-plastic alternatives like paper, glass, or bamboo straws, Stainless Steel Straws are the most durable.  They are made with the same food-grade material as your silver ware, so they will stand up to years of use, even in a household with children.
